GEDMatch.com – Opt-in or Not?
GEDMatch has instituted a change of policy regarding use by law enforcement of their site.  The change is a result of the recent use of genetic genealogy to solve (or provide leads to solving) cases of violent crimes.  Is yours among the more than 1.2 million DNA kits that have been uploaded?  After signing in to the site, users will be presented with the change of policy terms. Select opt-in to make your uploaded information available for use to law enforcement.  A highly informative CNN article by Eric Levenson addresses the issues HERE.

Merilee Mulvey credits an article from Dick Eastman’s genealogy newsletter that may be of interest to members with ancestors who migrated to Australia.  It describes an Australian Joint Copying Project under way through their National Library of Australia, making new content available – free.
