Free Storytelling Workshop
Of interest to genealogists who want to tell their family’s stories! On Sat., Oct. 22nd, from 2 to 4 PM, Portland Story Theater will be presenting a workshop on the art of storytelling. In their workshops, they teach “intentional storytelling” where people will learn how to tell stories improvisationally, by being resourceful and using the power of spontaneity. You’ll get a chance to learn about story structure, the power of presence, the differences between writing and telling, and to find the story that you need to tell. This workshop will give you a taste of that ancient art form in a fast-paced, fun environment. No pressure – you won’t be asked to perform! Workshop size is limited to 25 participants, so pre-registration is required. Please stop by the Reference Desk or call (541) 997-3132 to sign-up. For those who would just like to listen to storytelling, the Portland Story Theater will be doing a free show at the library that evening at 7 PM.
Preserving Your ‘Stuff’
SGS Member Merilee Mulvey shares a great website for ordering supplies to protect your precious memorabilia. The company is: GAYLORD ARCHIVAL. If you’re interested, Merilee will bring in some of her supplies to a monthly SGS meeting and show how she uses their products to store her items.
