Of Genealogy Interest

Several SGS members share links to recent articles around the web:

Merilee Mulvey points us to a recent post from Eastman’s Online Genealogy website on  Revolutionary War Images and Scouts Earning Genealogy Merit Badges.  The post is about photographs of men who fought in the Revolutionary War, and also mentions ‘book titles and marvelous daguerreotype images of very old men who fought’.  Read more HERE.

She also shares a link from the Ancestry.com blog on generating genealogical interest in kids – young people learning about the subject of genealogy and tracing their ancestry in fun ways that makes them more interested in (and aware of) their heritage!  Read more HERE.

Jacquie Beveridge shares an incredible find!  This link is to a recent Register Guard article about the return of a 220 year-old bible to it’s original owner’s family. A very intriguing story.  Read the story HERE.

WHAT’S NEW AT ANCESTRY.COM?
Find out by viewing Ancestry’s short (usually 15-20 minutes) monthly video on YouTube. This is an informative, quick look at new features and tools of the Ancestry.com database to help make your family research easier, and even more fun! Each episode previews what’s been added in the last month and how best to utilize the new features to search and find the information you’re looking for. Upcoming genealogy events are also announced. The July episode can be viewed HERE. For other What’s New . . . episodes just navigate to  www.youtube.com and enter ‘What’s New at Ancestry’ in the search field.
